Sponsorships available for fall Foundation events to support Polk State Athletics

WINTER HAVEN – Sponsorship opportunities remain available for a pair of annual Polk State College Foundation events this fall that will benefit Polk State Athletics.

This year's John R. Alexander Memorial Clays Classic will be held at Tenoroc Public Shooting Range in Lakeland on Oct. 23. The staple fundraiser for general athletics is sponsored by Tampa Electric and takes place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Eagle, Ammo and Soaring are among the remaining sponsorship levels available for the friendly shooting competition. Individuals can also register as single shooters. Those interested can learn more, sign up to participate or become a sponsor by visiting this link.

"These aren't just fun and memorable events, they also support Polk State student-athletes working toward their goals, both in competition and in the classroom," said Steve Warner, Vice President of Resource Development and Executive Director of the Polk State College Foundation.

Sponsored by AD Morgan, the Foundation will host the 35th annual William N. Ryan Memorial Golf Classic on Nov. 13 with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. Named in honor of former Polk State Foundation President William Ryan, the Country Club of Winter Haven event annually supports Polk State Baseball.

Under 17th-year Head Coach Al Corbeil, the Eagles have been one of the premier programs in the FCSAA, amassing more than 500 wins, six conference championships and the 2012 FCSAA title. During Corbeil's tenure, more than 150 players have gone on to sign with four-year programs.

"Each student-athlete who graduates or transfers successfully represents something larger than a roster spot or a season record," Polk State College Foundation Board Chair Bo Boyte said. "They represent the power of education to change a life's trajectory."

Several sponsorship options remain available, including Corporate, Driver (dinner), Wood (lunch) and Iron (golf cart). More information, including how to become a sponsor, can be found here.

"The support we receive helps provide our student-athletes with opportunities to compete, succeed academically and prepare for what comes next," said Randy Lee, Polk State Director of Athletics. "We're grateful to the businesses and individuals who continue to invest in our Eagles."
