MELBOURNE — Polk State Soccer beat Eastern Florida State College in dramatic fashion when the teams met in Lakeland last month. On Wednesday night, the 18th-ranked Titans got revenge, 4-0.
Coming off a loss in which it gave up the winning goal in the 89th minute, Polk State (6-6-1, 1-3-1 Region 8) fell behind almost instantly on Wednesday. Eastern Florida scored in the first minutes, led 3-0 at halftime and never looked back.
Avery Bracher, Region 8's leading scorer coming in, finished with two goals for Eastern Florida.Â
With the defeat, Polk State has now lost five straight matches. This Eagles have been outscored 16-2 during that stretch. They'll try to get back on track on Oct. 15 when they conclude Region 8 play against No. 1 Daytona State College. Daytona State clinched the Region 8 regular season title on Tuesday.
