Box Score WINTER HAVEN — For the first time in 2025, Polk State Volleyball is a winner. The Eagles finished strong on Friday afternoon to take down the University of South Carolina Sumter, 3-1.
After dropping the first set 25-20, the Eagles rolled in the final three. Polk State drew even with a 25-19 victory in the second set before closing it out with back-to-back 25-15 victories.
Marina Santos continued to fill up the box score, finishing with 13 kills and 12 digs.
Sarah Boe Soerenson and
Wiktoria Soremska each finished with 11 kills. Soerenson added eight digs and three blocks.
Ella Langstrom and
Alexia Ortiz tallied 10 and nine kills, respectively. Langstrom tied a team-high with three blocks.
Addison Phillippe led the Eagles with 48 assists to go with eight digs.
In the win column for the first time this season, Polk State will have the opportunity to double its win total on Saturday. The Eagles will play host to St. Petersburg College. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
