Box Score WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Volleyball picked up its second four-set win in as many days on Saturday. The Eagles downed St. Petersburg College, 3-1.
Polk State (2-3) raced to an early lead, winning the first two sets by 25-20 and 25-23 scores. The Titans were able to eke out a 25-23 win in the third to avoid the sweep but Polk State rolled to a 25-14 victory in the fourth.
Marina Santos and
Addison Phillippe each finished with double-doubles. Santos recorded 17 kills and 11 digs. Phillippe finished with 12 digs and 27 assists.
Sarah Boe Soerenson added 12 kills.
Isabella Ramos led the Eagles with 19 digs.
"I'm proud of how the team came together and the consistent mentality they had," Polk State Head Coach Jessica Beal said. "They played hungry and relentless while executing our game plan."Â
Polk State will now get an extended rest before playing four matches in two days in Melbourne for the Eastern Florida Tournament. The Eagles will face Lake Land College and Jefferson College on Friday.
