Box Score FORT MYERS – Against Citrus Conference-leading Florida SouthWestern State College, Polk State Basketball was never able to get into a rhythm on Saturday. The Eagles fell to No. 22 FSW, 92-65.
Polk State (4-19, 0-10 Citrus) never led in the contest but was right there for the first 11 minutes. Consecutive baskets from
Jimmy Cami and
Adonys Christo cut the FSW lead to 18-16 with more than nine minutes to go. Consecutive 3-pointers from Kenyon Giles jumpstarted a 17-4 run for the Buccaneers and from there, the contest never got back to single digits.
Polk State trailed 48-25 at halftime. The Eagles never got closer than 21 in the second half. FSW led by as many as 35 points.
Eric Dailey led Polk State with 19 points. Cami added 13 points, five rebounds and two steals.
Isaiah McCray and
Marques DaSilva-Romeo each chipped in with eight points.
Giles led five FSW players in double figures with 25 points on an efficient 8-for-13 from the field. Stephen Okoro finished with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Buccaneers.
After six straight road games, Polk State will return home where it will play five of its final six regular season games. That begins on Saturday against Daytona State College. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
