WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Baseball's final non-conference game of the 2026 regular season was one to forget. In a contest shortened to five innings, the Eagles were blanked by St. Johns River State College on Tuesday night, 13-0.Â
St. Johns River's Ayden Elixson's three-run double in the first inning set the tone as the Vikings went ahead to stay. After a scoreless second inning on the mound from Polk State's Vincent Antuna, St. Johns River turned it into a rout with an eight-run third inning.
The Vikings added a run each in the fourth and fifth innings. Zach Lester, Jack Muller and Kevin Brunet combined for the only three Polk State hits.
With non-conference play in the rear view, Polk State (29-22) will play its final home game of the year on Thursday as it celebrates Sophomore Night and begins a pivotal Citrus Conference series against Daytona State College. The Eagles can clinch an automatic berth to the FCSAA Tournament by beating Daytona State in each of the final three games.
