WINTER HAVEN – Polk State Baseball pitcher
Ronald Causby picked up five wins as a freshman this season. Three of those came during the month of April.
As a result, Causby is the Eagle of the Month for April 2026. The Eagle of the Month is selected by the Polk State Athletics Eagle of the Month Committee.
In four starts during April, Causby posted a 3-1 record with a 2.57 ERA. In 21 innings, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-hander from Seminole struck out 22 batters and allowed 22 hits.
Causby earned FCSAA Pitcher of the Week honors after allowing just three hits in six shutout innings while striking out eight in a 5-0 win over Santa Fe College on April 4. Causby picked up the Eagles' final win of the year on Saturday after yielding just one unearned run on six hits and one walk in five innings in a 6-3 victory over Daytona State College.
The other win for Causby during the month came against then No. 18 College of Central Florida on April 18. In six innings, Causby allowed three runs on just four hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out seven in the 7-3 win.
A weekend starter, Causby finished his freshman season with a 5-5 record. He ranked third on the team in wins and innings pitched (59.1). Causby was second on the team with 54 strikeouts and was one of just two Polk State hurlers to throw a complete game this season
