WINTER HAVEN — After earning All-Citrus Conference honors last week, a pair of Polk State Baseball freshmen were recognized at the state level on Thursday evening.
Catcher
Marvin Montenegro has been named to the All-FCSAA second team. Outfielder
Bradyn Potter was named to the FCSAA All-Defensive Team.
Previously an All-Citrus first-team selection, Montenegro hit .342 with five home runs, 45 RBIs, 52 runs scored and 16 stolen bases this season. He also led the Eagles with four triples.
For the year, Montenegro had 18 multi-hit games, including six contests with at least three hits. In a March 12 victory over nationally ranked State College of Florida, Montenegro had a career day, going 5-for-5 with three doubles, a home run, five RBIs and four runs scored. Primarily a catcher, Montenegro also spent time at third base and in the outfield in 2026, posting a .984 fielding percentage.
Previously a second-team All-Citrus Conference selection and member of the Citrus Conference All-Defensive Team, Potter has been named to the FCSAA All-Defensive Team. Potter posted a perfect fielding percentage and added four outfield assists as a freshman.
At the plate, Potter led the Eagles in batting average (.379), on-base percentage (.494), slugging (.538), hits (74), runs scored (61) and stolen bases (20). Potter finished second on the team with six home runs while adding 37 RBIs.
"These two have been as steady as they come all season long – at the top of our lineup and in the field," Head Coach
Al Corbeil said. "It's always rewarding to see your players recognized. Both have bright baseball futures in front of them."
