Polk State Basketball’s Brown, Dailey invited to prestigious JUCO event in Atlanta

ATLANTA – A pair of Polk State Basketball players will get to share in the spotlight this weekend at one of the biggest junior college recruiting events in the country.

Guard Eric Dailey and center Tammar Brown have been invited to the All-American JUCO Showcase Invitational. Founded in 2010, the invite-only event features the top rising and returning junior college sophomores in the nation.

"It's more basketball, so I'm super excited," Dailey exclaimed. "I want to establish myself as the best player there. I want to put four-year coaches on notice of what I can do."

The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday and will get players in front of four-year coaches across all levels and some professional scouts. Several NBA players, including Keon Ellis and Gary Payton II, participated in the event in years past.

"Moving players on to four-year institutions is one of the primary goals of our program," Polk State Head Coach Marreese Speights said. "This is a great opportunity for Eric and Tammar to represent Polk State and showcase their skills against some of the nation's best JUCO talent."

A local product from Winter Haven, Dailey earned second-team All-Citrus Conference honors as a freshman last season. Dailey led Polk State and ranked eighth in the FCSAA, averaging 17.1 points per game. Dailey shot 42% from the field, 36% from deep and 80% from the free-throw line as a freshman. He also averaged 3.4 rebounds and ranked second on the team in assists (3.0) and steals (1.4) per contest.

"I felt I could've done more last season," Dailey added. "The end goal is to make it to the NBA. I'm never giving up on that goal."

A 7-foot-0 center from Jamaica, Brown spent his freshman season at Garden City Community College in Kansas. In 31 games, he averaged 2.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.8 blocks while shooting an efficient 57.4% from the field.

"I'm really excited to play with everyone selected," Brown explained. "I'm hoping to get as much exposure as I can. I want to show coaches what I can do."

Dailey and Brown become the first Polk State players to earn the invite since Fray Nguimbi attended in 2024. Nguimbi went on to earn All-Citrus Conference honors before moving on to Clark Atlanta University.

"Ultimately, I want to get to the next level," Brown added. "Coach Mo has already been working with me and explaining the areas where I need to improve. Coach Mo spent a long time in the (NBA), so I'm looking to be more aggressive and learn as much as I can from him. I'm ready to put in the work."
