Box Score LAKELAND — For the second straight day, Polk State Soccer rolled to a shutout victory over Central Georgia Technical College. The Eagles concluded their August home slate with a 6-0 win on Sunday.
After freshmen accounted for all eight goals on Saturday, it was the sophomores who set the tone on Sunday. Following a three-assist performance on Saturday, Kaylin Allen found the net for the first time in 2026 to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
Jordan Robert scored the next two goals to push the lead to 3-0. Wendy Benedo scored her first goal of the season to give the Eagles a 4-0 halftime lead.
It marked the second straight day that Polk State held a four-goal lead at the break. Alayna Dial and Jaycie Noble each scored in the second half to cap the scoring.
While sophomores accounted for five of the six goals on Sunday, five different freshmen recorded an assist. Andrea Romero, Oriana Moreno, Isabella O'Sullivan, Sophia Henriques and Abi Shannon were each credited with assists. Sophomore Laura Sofia had the final assist of the day.
"Give lots of credit to Central Georgia Tech because they played hard today," Polk State Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. "It's always tough playing a second game back-to-back against the same team."
With the win, Polk State moved to 2-0 for the second straight year. They'll hit the road for the first time on Tuesday as they visit Warner University JV.
"For us, it's about preparation mode for our season," Shivraman added. "I'm proud of our players for coming out and playing hard."
