Box Score LAKELAND — Coming off its first loss of the season, Polk State Soccer bounced back in a big way on Saturday. In their first home match of September, the Eagles rolled to the season sweep of Pasco-Hernando State College, 7-1.

The Polk State show had many stars on Saturday but the biggest was freshman midfielder Oriana Moreno. Moreno recorded a hat trick and a pair of assists in the victory.

Before Pasco-Hernando State could blink, it was on the short end of a 2-0 score. Moreno and Jaycie Noble each scored in the first 10 minutes. Alayna Dial scored in the 27th minute to give Polk State (4-1-1) a 3-0 halftime lead.

Polk State wasted little time erasing what little doubt may have existed in the second half. Within a four-minute stretch in the second, a pair of Moreno goals bookended Isabella O'Sullivan's fifth goal of the year. By the 57th minute, the Eagles led 6-0.

The Bobcats managed to break up the shutout shortly after but Sienna Amador put the exclamation point on the victory. In goal, Violeta Henao, Alex Van Lare and Sofia Zapata each saw action. Henao finished with two saves.

In addition to Moreno's monster day, Natalie Davis, Laura Sofia, O'Sullivan, Noble and Abi Shannon each added assists. With the win, Polk State improved to 3-0 at home this season. In those matches, it has outscored opponents by a 21-1 margin.

"Today's performance is a testament to our team," Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. "Every player contributed in their own way. Collectively, they were disappointed with yesterday's match. They brought their focus and relentless energy today."

After matches in consecutive days, Polk State will get a few days of rest before opening FCSAA play. The Eagles will do that on Friday night at Miami Dade College.
