Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The unbeaten streak to open the 2023 season for Polk State Soccer came to an end on Saturday night. A two-goal first half for No. 4 Daytona State College proved too much for the Eagles to overcome, as they dropped the match to the Falcons, 3-1.
Polk State (4-1, 0-1 Region 8) was outshot by Daytona (8-0, 1-0 Region 8) 18-3 for the match.
The Falcons found the back of the net via Wakaba Kogure in the 22nd minute and Arianna Kinsley in the 38th minute to take the early 2-0 advantage.
Freshman midfielder
Tamara Iwashita scored her first collegiate goal in the 62nd minute, finishing a ball from
Dylan Fernandez to bring Polk State within one.
However, Kogure registered her second goal of the match in the 74th minute to put the Falcons back up by a pair of scores.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ella Sebree made five saves in the loss for Polk.
The Eagles continue Region 8 play on Tuesday, hosting No. 5 Eastern Florida State College at the Polk Soccer Field. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
