Box Score WINTER HAVEN -- Polk State Basketball completed the season sweep of Florida Gateway College on Friday night with a convincing 89-59 victory. With the win, the Eagles moved to 7-0 for the first time since the 2007-08 season -- a 17-year stretch.
Polk State dominated from the start. The Eagles led 48-21 at halftime and never looked back.
The Eagles shot 11-for-29 from deep and held Florida Gateway to less than 35% from the field.
Ty Owens finished with 19 points to lead five Eagles in double figures.
Kellen Cashman was an efficient 5-for-8 from the floor, finishing with a career-high 17 points and six steals.
Jimmy Cami added 14 points.
Fray Nguimbi and
Kenny Fields each chipped in with 12 points. Nguimbi led Polk State with eight rebounds.
For the first time this season,
Karl Knighten Jr. failed to score in double figures. Knighten, however, finished with five points and led the team with six assists. Knighten and Owens each finished with five steals.
Ty'Jahn Wright and Ahman Greenidge each scored 17 points to lead the Wolves.Â
With Thanksgiving week ahead, Polk State will get an extended rest before hosting TRC Academy on Dec. 4. The Eagles are one of just four remaining undefeated teams in the FCSAA.
