WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Basketball's home opener didn't go as planned. The Eagles dropped their second overtime contest in three games, falling to IMG Academy on Sunday, 99-87.
The contest was close throughout with 10 ties and 14 lead changes. Polk State trailed 40-39 at the break. In overtime, the Eagles went cold, finishing just 1-for-11 in the extra period.
As a team, Polk State (1-2) shot just 34% from the field.
Eric Dailey led the way with 31 points.
Ethan Simon had a monster day on the glass with 23 rebounds to go with his 15 points.Â
Isaiah McCray and
Moises Valdez added 13 and 11 points, respectively. Landyn Colyer led IMG Academy with a game-high 35 points.
Sunday's loss was the first of three straight home games for Polk State. The Eagles will host DME Academy on Wednesday.
