Box Score DAYTONA BEACH — Polk State Volleyball will have to try to pick up its first Citrus Conference win at home. The Eagles closed a stretch of four straight road matches to open conference play with a 3-1 loss to Daytona State College on Saturday afternoon.
Polk State (5-9, 0-4) sent a message early on, taking its Citrus Conference set of the season. The Eagles rolled to a 25-18 win in the opening set — their most lopsided set victory in conference play since the 2023 FCSAA Tournament, which also came against Daytona State.
Daytona State was able to bounce back with wins over the three final sets. The Falcons won by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-17.
For Polk State,
Alexia Ortiz paced the offense with a season-high 15 kills.
Marina Santos added 11 kills.Â
Camila Freitag added four kills but on an efficient .800 hitting percentage with five attacks.
Addison Phillippe finished with 37 assists for the Eagles — her highest total in Citrus Conference play.
Polk State will play its next six matches at home, beginning on Wednesday against Eastern Florida State College. The Eagles will hold their "Dig Pink" match. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
