LAKELAND – August is in the books for Polk State Athletics. Polk State College's fall sports combined for 11 total matches during the opening month.

Following a long trip to Texas in which it played four matches in two days, Polk State Volleyball will be idle this week. Polk State Soccer begins September with matches in consecutive days.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.: Polk State College (3-0-1) at New College of Florida JV

Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m.: Pasco-Hernando State College (0-1) at Polk State (3-0-1)

PREVIEW

• Polk State went 1-0-1 last week. After salvaging a draw against Warner University JV, the Eagles beat Pasco-Hernando State College on Friday for their first road win of the season, 2-1. Polk State is now 9-0 all-time against the Bobcats.

• Polk State players currently leads the FCSAA in just about every major statistic. Freshman Isabella O'Sullivan leads the FCSAA in both goals (4) and points (9). Kaylin Allen leads the state in assists (4) and ranks behind only O'Sullivan in points with eight. Abi Shannon leads the FCSAA in shots on goal (9). Goalkeeper Sofia Zapata leads the FCSAA with 11 saves. 

• Through August, Polk State leads the FCSAA in goals (17) and shots (130). O'Sullivan leads the team with 11 shots – good for second in the FCSAA. Allen and Jaycie Noble are tied for fourth with 10 shots apiece.

• Through four matches, 15 different Polk State players have registered a point.
