Box Score WINTER HAVEN — For the first time in three weeks, Polk State Baseball is below .500. Not much went right for the Eagles on Tuesday night in a 10-0 non-conference loss to Indian River State College.
The Pioneers seized control with six runs in the second inning — all with two outs. Vincent Samuel's two-run single highlighted the frame for Indian River.
Polk State could get nothing going offensively throughout the night. The Eagles finished with just four hits.
Damion Kenealy had two of those hits. Kenealy and
Liam O'Neil each doubled in the loss.
Indian River added runs in the fourth and fifth innings before plating two more in the seventh.
Gavin Dicks took the loss, allowing the first six runs before being pulled in the second inning.
Overall, the bullpen was a bright spot for the Eagles.
Brock Rose and
Jake Echols each threw scoreless innings in the defeat.
With losses in five of its last seven games, Polk State will look to get back on track when it resumes Citrus Conference play at Miami Dade College. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
