Box Score OCALA — The Polk State Baseball train kept rolling on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles invaded enemy territory and left with a 2-1 victory over reigning national champion College of Central Florida.

After six solid innings on the mound from
Aiden Butler, the Eagles (18-14, 7-6 Citrus Conference) put their starter in position to be the winner with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. The two-out rally started when
Greg Pettay was hit by a pitch. Pettay would come around to score on
Damion Kenealy's RBI double.
In his six innings, Butler allowed just one earned run on seven hits, walking one, and striking out five.Â

Ryan Combs stranded two runners in the seventh,
JT Long worked two scoreless innings to earn the save -- his fifth of the season.

Two nights after a walk-off squeeze play, Polk State used the bunt to take the early lead on Thursday. In the second inning,
Jordan Thomas laid one down the first base line to plate
Aaron Stelogeannis.

The Patriots drew even with a run in the fourth inning.

For Polk State, the win is its sixth straight and fourth consecutive conference victory. The Eagles and Patriots will conclude the season series on Saturday with a doubleheader in Winter Haven. Game times are scheduled for 1 and 4 p.m.
