Polk State Basketball’s Dailey named Eagle of the Month for November

WINTER HAVEN – A native of Winter Haven, Polk State Basketball guard Eric Dailey continues to make his mark on the area he's long called home. The first full month of his collegiate career has culminated in an internal recognition.

Dailey is the Eagle of the Month for November. The Eagle of the Month is selected by the Polk State Athletics Eagle of the Month Committee.

Over five games during November, Dailey averaged 19.4 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and 46% from beyond the arc – efficient numbers for a perimeter player. In addition to his scoring prowess, Dailey averaged 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game.

In an overtime loss to IMG Academy on Nov. 9, Dailey set career-highs with 31 points – equaling the most for a Polk State player this season – and five steals while shooting 5-for-10 from 3-point land. The freshman is the only Polk State player to have scored in double figures in each of the Eagles' six games this season.

As the calendar turns to December, Dailey finds himself among the FCSAA leaders in several categories. Dailey is leading the FCSAA by averaging 3.2 steals per game – good for sixth nationally. He ranks fourth in the region, averaging 20 points per contest, ninth in 3-point percentage (.448) and 11th in assists per game (4.3).

With Dailey as a big reason for its early success, Polk State enters December on a three-game winning streak and with a record of 4-2. Dailey and the Eagles will have their biggest challenges of the young season this coming weekend as they travel to Tallahassee for the Region 8 Shootout and contests against No. 13 Chipola College on Saturday and No. 5 Northwest Florida State College on Sunday.
