Box Score PALATKA — Polk State Baseball erased a five-run deficit on Tuesday night, but couldn't finish the job as Thomas Bly's two-run walk-off home run gave St. Johns River State College a dramatic 10-9 victory.
Down 6-1 in the fifth, the Eagles (3-7) chipped away with four runs in the inning before taking the lead with two in the seventh. The final three innings featured two ties and four lead changes.
Simon Scharff's first career home run -- a solo shot in the top of the ninth -- broke an 8-8 tie. Bly was able to one-up the Polk State catcher a half-inning later.
Bly homered twice and finished with six RBIs. He also hit a grand slam in the third. The Vikings finished with just three hits but all of them left the yard. Brody Dalton also homered in the win. Six Polk State pitchers combined to allow 12 walks.
Andy Schroeder had a nice night for Polk State, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Zach Lester also each finished with two hits for the Eagles.
The loss is the fourth straight for Polk State as it remained winless on the road. The Eagles will try to right the ship on Thursday night at Eastern Florida State College.
