Three Polk State Baseball players recognized as All-Citrus Conference

WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Baseball is well represented on the 2025 All-Citrus Conference team. Three Eagles earned All-Conference recognition on Friday.

Pitcher Jake Echols was named to the first team. Pitcher Wade Johnson and outfielder Jordan Thomas each earned a spot on the second team. With a perfect fielding percentage in center field, Thomas was also named the Citrus Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

A 6-foot-4 right-hander from Orlando, Echols finished his sophomore season with a 4-3 record and 3.44 ERA in 14 appearances. Echols posted 61 strikeouts in his team-leading 68 innings of work. A Florida State University signee, Echols finished strong, posting a 2.53 ERA over his final six starts.

Johnson, a sophomore right-hander from Oldsmar, led the Eagles in wins (5) and closes the regular season as the FCSAA leader in saves with six. Johnson ranked second on the team in appearances with 24. A Georgia Southwestern State University signee, Johnson becomes the first Polk State player to lead the team in wins and saves since Billy McKay in 2019.

The Polk State lead-off man, Thomas finished the season by hitting a team-best .346 with one home run, 36 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases. In addition to batting average, the sophomore from Loganville, Ga. led the Eagles in hits (63), triples (3), and on-base percentage (.428). A Lipscomb University signee, Thomas finished with six outfield assists – the highest in the FCSAA among players with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

The Eagles finished the season with a record of 27-28. The All-FCSAA Team will be announced next week.

"These three guys have all had to deal with adversity over their two years here," Head Coach Al Corbeil said. "It's great to see them work hard to get better, have great years, catch the eyes of the coaches in our conference, and go out as All-Conference selections."
