WINTER HAVEN – Outfielder
Jordan Thomas' career as a member of the Polk State Baseball program has come to an end, but the accolades continue.
On Wednesday, Thomas received his first national honor as he was announced as a Rawlings Gold Glove winner by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Rawlings Gold Glove awards honor the top defensive players in the nation at their positions.
Previously named the
Citrus Conference and
FCSAA Defensive Player of the Year, Thomas posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage this season in 108 chances. Thomas' six outfield assists were tops among FCSAA players with a perfect fielding percentage. He was also recognized with an FCSAA Gold Glove last month.
A
Lipscomb University signee and an
FCSAA All-Academic Team selection, Thomas had a strong year at the plate for the Eagles as well in 2025. He batted a team-best .346 with a home run and 36 RBIs. Thomas also led Polk State in hits (63) and triples (3).
With the prestigious honor, Thomas becomes the fifth Polk State player to win a Gold Glove under Head Coach Al Corbeil and third in four seasons. Nelson Taylor, also a centerfielder, was the most recent to do so when he accomplished the feat in 2023.
Other previous winners are pitcher and current Polk State Pitching Coach Alec Asher and catcher Erik Hindmon, who each took home a Gold Glove in 2012. Shortstop Dakota Harris earned a Gold Glove in 2022 when he was recognized as NJCAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
"What a fantastic accomplishment," Head Coach Al Corbeil said. "Jordan really worked hard on every aspect of his game. It's tremendous to see him rewarded with a Gold Glove."
