Box Score TAMPA — Polk State Softball entered Friday night's doubleheader in Tampa without a true road victory. It now has two after sweeping Hillsborough College.
The Eagles held on for an 8-7 victory in the first game. In the second, Polk State rolled to a 16-3 run-rule victory.
In the first game, Polk State went ahead for good with three runs in the sixth inning. After a five-run fifth that gave Hillsborough a 7-5 lead, the Eagles drew to within a run on a sacrifice fly by
Shyla de Lautour.

Calonnie Holmes scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball.
De Lautour,
Ciana Vargas and
Thea Williams each finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Holmes and Aldridge each went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
In the circle,
Avery Wende picked up the win. The Eagles overcame nine errors, leading to five unearned runs. Sarrah Trocki finished with two hits and an RBI for the Hawks.
In the second game, Polk State never trailed, but after an exchange of three-run third innings, the lead was just 4-3. Polk State then put the contest away with a 12-run fifth inning.
Polk State finished with 13 hits in the win. Aldridge finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Williams also scored three times. Hurst led the Eagles with four RBIs while de Lautour finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Lacey Osborne also had two hits and two runs scored. Vargas finished with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Hayle Peterson went the distance in the circle to pick up the win.Â
The Eagles improve to 13-17 and 5-9 in Citrus Conference play. They'll remain on the road to take on Indian River State College for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
