Box Score WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Baseball scored 18 unanswered runs on Tuesday night to run-rule Webber International University (B), 19-9.

The Warriors were able to push across nine runs over the first two innings to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Before the bottom of the second inning was over, Polk had taken the lead.

The Eagles went ahead for good with 10 runs in the inning. Polk State drew five walks and had six hits — all singles — in the frame. After Mason Mojica scored the tying run on a wild pitch, Josh Cruz put Polk State (22-19) ahead for good with a two-run single.

Polk State added a run in the third, three in the fourth, one in the seventh, and three in the eighth to complete the run-rule victory. Liam O'Neil belted a two-run home run in the eighth. Jordan Thomas led off the bottom of the first for the Eagles with a solo blast to get the scoring started.

The 19 runs is a season-high for Polk State and came on 17 hits. Hayden Testerman finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Cruz, O'Neil, and Kenay Acevedo each recorded three hits. Andy Schroeder added a pair of hits.

Like Testerman, Thomas and Acevedo each scored three runs. O'Neil and Cruz each finished with four RBIs. Schroeder, O'Neil, Cruz, and Derek Fermaint each scored twice. Schroeder and Andre Mason each plated a pair of runs.

Jackson Graden allowed just a hit while striking out three in 3.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Jason Sawyer tossed a scoreless sixth before Vincent Antuna put up zeroes in the seventh and eighth.

The victory snaps a four-game losing streak for Polk State. The Eagles will start a pivotal Citrus Conference series on Thursday at Eastern Florida State College.
